Scribble Pen Vs. Chameleon Pens

Chameleon pens are unique in that you can use them to create smooth gradients. They offer 20 colors plus a colorless blender and a detail pen.

The Scribble Pen is a futuristic idea that's been in pre-production for over a year. It's been through at least two different crowdfunding campaigns, and the projected release date is this winter.

This pen is unique in that is has 16 million possible colors, and a color sensor, so you can basically pick up any color and draw with it. There are also three different sized nibs you can use to create detailed or bold lines.

Social Media Strategies:
The Chameleon website lists Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube. On Facebook they post tutorials and art. Most of the posts on Twitter are the same as on Facebook. Their pinterest is all about art made with the pens. YouTube has a lot of tutorials and testimonials from artists.

The Scribble Pen website doesn't list any social media, however I was able to find a Facebook page where they post information about the pen's manufacturing process.

Birchbox Vs. Sketchbox

Monthly sample boxes have become very popular recently. They can be anything from beauty products to healthy snacks. I'm going to compare and contrast two sample boxes: Birchbox and Sketchbox.

Birchbox offers beauty products/grooming supplies for both men and women. The women's boxes are $10 a month and usually have 5 samples each. The men's boxes are $20 and have 4 samples and one "full size" item per month. Each of these boxes offers items the customer might be interested in based on style, skin color, and hair type.

Sketchbox offers two boxes, neither of which can be customized. The Basic Box is $25, and contains hand-picked, full sized art supplies and some art from the month's inspirational artist. The Premium box offers more "premium" art supplies.

Social Media Use:
According to its website, Birchbox is on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Tumbler, and Instagram. On Facebook they post tutorials, product promotions, and customers enjoying the beauty products. Twitter is mostly product promotions. Pinterest is a collection of their favorite makeup styles, tutorials, heath "feel-good" life ideas, and products. YouTube gives tutorials on hairdos and product use. Tumbler has some different pictures than Facebook and Twitter, but again it is focused on tutorials and "healthy life" ideas. Instagram showcases the monthly box and the included products.

Sketchbox's website lists Instagram, Tumbler, and Pinterest. On Instagram they mostly just post this month's featured artwork. On Tumbler they post tutorials, unboxing videos, and information about the month's featured artist. They have 5 boards on Pinterest: past boxes, featured art, inspirational art, techniques, and DIY art projects.
